Why is ZICO in a bottle?
Due to overwhelming requests from ZICO’s active consumers and through months of research and development, 3 flavors of ZICO can now be purchased in a recyclable and resealable bottle.
How is ZICO in the bottle different?
The new 14 oz bottle is made from a blend of coconuts hand-selected from around the world to contain 20% fewer calories than other coconut waters. It naturally contains more sodium which is critical to optimal hydration during prolonged exercise by preventing muscle cramps or weakness and aiding in water retention. Sodium also stimulates thirst which aides in preventing dehydration, making ZICO in the bottle the ultimate hydration drink.
What about the environment?
Contrary to what most people think, the new ZICO bottle actually has a lower carbon footprint than the tetra pack:
- Tetra packaging is only recyclable in 40% of the U.S. and today less than 1% is actually recycled. To do so is extremely energy intensive, as it requires separating the multiple layers of materials that make up the carton.
- The ZICO bottle is #2 recyclable, made from 30% recycled content, accepted in almost all curbside recycling programs nationwide and currently 40% of all HDPE bottles are recycled in the US.
-
ZICO bottles are also made domestically, which means a reduced eco- impact (fuel, energy, pollution) from not having to ship full-strength water and packaging materials around the globe.
